Meetings with impact

World-class sustainability and strong collaboration are vital ingredients in a successful impact approach and fundamental parts of the Gothenburg Strategic Plan for Meetings.

In broad stakeholder collaboration, we work closely with associations and local and national stakeholders to ensure meetings generate a long-term, positive impact for the association and the host community by offering Gothenburg Way to Legacy.

The Gothenburg Way to Legacy is a structured approach to meeting impact that includes the Programme, Toolbox and Community Support.

“When the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare took place in Gothenburg in 2022, we, the national strategic partners, collaborated closely with the City of Gothenburg on value creation and impact related to health promotion and prevention. The learning points we’ve had were, if you want to create impact you need to find the gaps and focus on synergies. You do not always have to think of something new, but tie it into existing programmes and strategies. It makes the impact stronger and the engagement higher.”
Jesper Ekberg, Swedish Association of Authorities and Regions. Read more about the project here.
“Congresses themselves are value-creating and by having a clear plan for what is to be achieved and actively using them as platforms for positive development and changes in society, they can benefit far into the future.”
Sandi Habinc, Conference Chair Space Forum 2021.

When the International Continence Society (ICS) brought their event to Gothenburg, not only was the supreme quality of the services ensured but something more: the legacy that the event would leave was foreseen long before the event took place. One of the ways that the Gothenburg Convention Bureau ensured a legacy was by providing financial support to local practitioners to attend the event. As a result, they are better prepared and can ensure improved healthcare services to the local population, creating a multiplier effect from one single meeting.
