The Trade & Industry group
The Trade and Industry Group is a collaboration platform between businesses, organizations, municipalities and academia aiming to strengthen and develop Gothenburg’s competitiveness and attractiveness. By creating new structures for cooperation, initiating new projects and making Gothenburg visible, the Trade and Industry Group wants to make a real difference for people and businesses in the region.
Strength in cooperation
The Trade and Industry Group consists of companies from businesses, academia and the public sector who believe that a city that attracts people and businesses gives their own business growth. Together, they form a powerful and long-term resource to enable value creation and innovation, invest in skills supply and inclusion, contribute to an attractive, vibrant and sustainable metropolitan region, and strengthen the destination Gothenburg brand.

The Trade and Industry Group pilots new partners into existing projects, help refining investments through access to expertise, competence and networks, and develop long-term operations.
We initiate and facilitate new projects
The Trade and Industry Group finances and guides ventures in the start-up phase, and creates and runs new events and projects.
We increase visibility and knowledge of Gothenburg
The Trade and Industry Group spreads information to collaborative actors, communicates in selected channels and uses ambassadors to reach specific target groups.
As a common thread in all investments, the Trade and Industry Group focuses on competence provision, inclusion and building the Gothenburg brand.
We make a difference
Every year, the trade and Industry Group invests in around 20 projects by contributing both financially and with expertise and networks. Here are some examples:
Vetenskapsfestivalen
Vetenskapsfestivalen is Sweden’s largest popular science festival with around 60,000 visits annually from all over the country – digitally and physically. The festival aims to create positive attitudes towards research and science and to inspire higher studies.
Junior Achievement Gothenburg
Junior Achievement works for young people in the Gothenburg region to see and understand entrepreneurship. The Trade and Industry Group is an active partner of JA Gothenburg and is the competition host for the UF Company of the Year award.
Changers Hub Hjällbo
Changers Hub’s business is about democratizing success regardless of someone’s background and without limitation as for example expectations and prejudices. The support from the Trade and Industry Group has, among other things, contributed to the establishment of a physical hub in Hjällbo. A place for young people to come to take part in coaching and meet role models.
Nextar
Nextar collaborates with the school, mentors and partner companies to inspire Sweden’s next star. Their mentoring program, which is run in selected secondary schools, aims to make young people see what opportunities they have in the world of work, to encourage dreams and help them understand the value of school. The support from the Trade and Industry Group enables the mentorship program, Nextar inspiration meetings, study visits and working days for the target group.
Unimeet Gothenburg
Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between Chalmers, the University of Gothenburg and the Trade and Industry Group that welcomes international students and researchers to Gothenburg to show the city as an attractive place to study, live and work.
GoWest
GoWest – Nordic Venture Capital Forum is Gothenburg’s and West Sweden’s annual venture capital forum for investors and startups. The event aims to get national and international investors to see Gothenburg as a natural and efficient meeting place where exciting investment objects can be found. With the Trade and Industry Group as a main partner, the meeting place has established itself as a window for innovation and entrepreneurship that makes swedish companies more visible.
Gothenburg Magazine
Gothenburg Magazine highlights and conveys the image of an innovative and modern Gothenburg. The magazine is released once a year and distributed as an appendix to the national daily newspaper Dagens Industri. In the latest issue you can read about Höglund shipowners living the green transition, Leyla who is travelling in the foreign trade, a professor who dives deep into the sea, or even about Victor Leksell who is now ready for the truly major stages, and much more!
