Gothenburg welcomes prestigous congress

Gothenburg warmly welcomes AC Forum’s Annual Meeting. For a long time, Gothenburg has diligently sought the opportunity to host this prestigious congress, which is now confirmed to take place on 22-24 January 2026.

Gothenburg’s proposal to host such congresses is strategically important to the destination’s meetings industry and offers a unique opportunity to showcase the city’s attractiveness for significant medical gatherings. The city’s stakeholders have extensive experience collaborating to organise large congresses focusing on sustainability, positively impacting the future.

“Large meetings in Gothenburg contribute to the tourism economy and benefit academia and business by attracting research, talent, decision-makers, and investments. The AC Forum’s selection of Gothenburg as its meeting location is a great honour and important for the destination. We look forward to showcasing opportunities in the city for upcoming congresses with the Association of Large Hotels and the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre Gothia Towers”, says Annika Hallman, head of Gothenburg Convention Bureau.

AC Forum’s membership primarily comprises medical associations and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, who, in turn, organise major international gatherings.

“The visit of these influential persons in the international meetings industry holds great significance and fills us with pride. It represents an investment in the future, and we are committed to extending them the warmest welcome to our hotels and conference facilities,” says Charlie Hedberg, Chairman of the Association of Large Hotels in Gothenburg.

AC Forum convenes annually in various European locations. It took place in Hamburg and Glasgow in the last couple of years, and the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre is the host venue in 2026.

“This is a very prestigious assignment that we hold in high esteem. In the international meeting industry, we are still something of a hidden gem when it comes to managing high-volume international congresses. With the largest and foremost associations gathered in Gothenburg, we have a fantastic opportunity to showcase our ability and capacity as a value-creating organiser delivering sustainable and safe world-class meetings“, says Malin Erlandsson, Director of Congress & Events at the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre Gothia Towers.
