International students were welcomed to Volvo Group
On March 26th, Volvo Group welcomed approximately 30 international students within technology, computer science and IT at The University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. The company visit was organized by Unimeet Gothenburg with the aim of offering participants a unique opportunity to learn more about the industry and expand their professional network.
During the visit, the students learned more about Volvo Group and the opportunities the company can offer to students and recent graduates. Several interesting representatives were present to meet the participants and talk about the company. Mikael Aldén, HR Business Partner, and Marita Hollstig, communicator, presented the company and its various brands with a focus on Volvo Group Digital & IT. Oliver Lykken, Chapter Lead – Mobile XR SW, and Juliana Furuzato, Head of Veh SW Platform as Service, shared their inspiring career journeys and talked about their roles within the company. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, make new connections, and expand their professional network within the industry.
Chuyi Jiang was one of the participants, and she found the visit to be rewarding. She noted that many insightful questions were asked, and the answers provided were very helpful.
“Everyone is trying to tell the truth about what’s happening in the field and the hiring process, what skills are needed, and what we should develop more when trying to find a job. Today, I received some practical advice that I can use in my job-seeking process,” says Chuyi Jiang, who is studying a master’s in Mobility Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology.
Unimeet Gothenburg’s ambition in organizing company visits for international students and researchers is to, together with the companies and employers in the Gothenburg region, showcase the city as an attractive workplace and attract future international talents to stay in Gothenburg after completing their studies.
Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, and The Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co, aimed at strengthening the exchange between the universities’ international students and researchers and the business community, creating cultural and social meeting places, as well as networking opportunities.
