Sustainability and social entrepreneurship – hot trends at the JA fair in Gothenburg

Meet, get inspired by and gain an insight into 350 Junior Achievement companies run by approximately 1,300 young entrepreneurial high school students from the entire Gothenburg region, when they present their business ideas at the Junior Achievement fair 2024, on February 29th at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. Sustainability and social entrepreneurship are two hot trends among this year’s participating JA companies.

Junior Achievement Gothenburg educates high school students in entrepreneurship through the process education JA entrepreneurship, providing children and youth with a fantastic opportunity to practice and develop their creativity, enterprise, and entrepreneurship. At the JA fair at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg on February 29th, 1,300 young entrepreneurs from around 350 AJ companies gather to showcase their business ideas. Additionally, the JA companies compete in 14 categories with the chance to win awards and qualify for the national championship in Junior Achievement. The Trade and Industry Group hosts the most prestigious category, the JA Company of the Year.

“We at The Trade and Industry Group are proud to support an initiative that fosters interest in entrepreneurship in schools and contributes to long-term skills development,” says Christian Westerberg, Chair of the JA Company of the Year Jury and project manager at The Trade and Industry Group, Göteborg & Co.

The JA fair is held annually with the aim of inspiring and promoting youth entrepreneurship for positive societal development. This year, many business ideas focus on sustainability and environmental thinking, such as reducing food waste or reusing and recycling materials. The JA Company of the Year will be crowned during the fair.

At the JA fair, visitors can not only meet the young entrepreneurs and learn about their business ideas but also visit the FutureZone, an area where you have an chance to discuss job opportunities and make connections.

The Trade and Industry Group has been a proud partner of Junior Achievement Gothenburg for many years and hosts the JA Company of the Year competition. Junior Achievement is a non-profit, politically independent organization founded in 1980. Since then, it has educated over 560,000 high school students in Sweden in entrepreneurship.
