Events Development
To help make the city an attractive place, the Business Group supports a wide range of events in collaboration with the events department at Göteborg & Co. This support has enabled initiatives, both at and through these events, that promote inclusion and sustainable development, thereby contributing to long-term positive social impacts.
Some of the initiatives that have been implemented and are planned are described below.
Pre-SM in Breaking
In August 2025, a Pre-SM Breaking competition was held in central Bergsjön, featuring 24 competitors from Gothenburg and southern Sweden. The competition was organised as part of a wider initiative to foster optimism, inclusion and creativity among young people in Bergsjön, and was included as a free event in the Kulturkalaset programme, where visitors could also take part in a dance workshop. The competition attracted 300 visitors from Bergsjön, Gothenburg and other parts of the country.
In 2026, the Pre-SM in Breaking will be held in several marginalised areas, followed by the SM final during the Göteborgkalaset festival at the end of August.

Food Fest
From 11 to 20 September, Gothenburg will be brimming with exciting culinary experiences from some of the city’s finest local producers and food creators. Food Fest Gothenburg is a unique opportunity to discover the city’s food culture through workshops, tastings and pop-ups. Experience and share completely new and unexpected flavours from both near and far, whilst meeting chefs, growers, food personalities and other food lovers.
Göteborg Open
The Trade and Industry Group supports the Gothenburg Open, one of Sweden’s largest parasport competitions for children and young people with disabilities, aged 7 and over.
Offentlig i förorten
The Business Group supports the “Offentlig i förorten” football tournament, which takes place during the Christmas holidays in Hammarkullen. The tournament has grown over the five years it has been running, and in 2025, 28 teams and 35 volunteers took part. The volunteers working at the tournament receive leadership training ahead of the event.
Development of Gothenburg’s music scene
During the autumn of 2025 and 2026, the Trade and Industry Group support three festivals that are small-scale organisations with the potential to grow and help establish vibrant cultural life in the city. November 2025 was a real festival month in Gothenburg, starting with the Vrålet! punk festival, which aims to support the revival of the punk and rock scene. The festival was completely sold out, attracting 1,500 visitors per day, and was attended by a broad target group of people aged 18 to 45.
Dunya Fest followed, which focuses on young adults and new musical experiences, with a stage reflecting emerging young musicians in the city. A gender-balanced lineup is a key part of the festival’s values, and accessibility is prioritised through low ticket prices and an accessible venue. Both festivals were held at Gothenburg Film Studios. At the end of November, the niche metal festival The Abyss took place in Ringön. The event, which featured bands from both Europe and the US, attracted an international audience as well as the city’s students.
K-pop at the Museum of World Culture
During the Easter holidays in 2026, the Trade and Industry Group collaborated with the Museum of World Culture to organise a K-pop concert. The concert was part of a week-long programme during the Easter holidays, which was very well received and attracted participants from across the city. A total of 6,700 people took part during the week, of whom just over 1,000 attended the concert.
Katarina Cup
In 2025 and 2026, the Trade and Industry Group provided support for the Katarina Cup, a music and table tennis festival initiated by hip-hop artist Adam Taal (fka Tensta) to make culture and sport more accessible in disadvantaged areas. The Katarina Cup visited marginalised areas across Sweden, where open table tennis lessons, qualifying matches and music workshops were offered. The target group was pupils in Years 4–6. The Katarina Cup concluded with a national final in Gothenburg.
