Destination Invest

The aim of Destination Invest is to increase access to risk capital and networks for entrepreneurs in disadvantaged areas of Gothenburg, where access to capital is limited.

In 2025, the Trade and Industry Group initiated a collaboration with Destination Invest, together with several other partners. The aim of this is to increase access to risk capital and networks for entrepreneurs in disadvantaged areas of Gothenburg, where access to capital is limited. The goal is to create a more inclusive and sustainable business environment in Gothenburg by promoting talent and building bridges between entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem stakeholders.

The initiative is called Destination Innovation: Ideas beyond the centre and is a new programme in Gothenburg’s development areas, aiming to empower entrepreneurs through knowledge, networking and access to investors. The programme began with a full-day workshop at Rymdporten in Bergsjön on 26 November for 30 or so invited entrepreneurs. Ecosystem stakeholders guided participants towards the right support organisations, inspirational talks were given by established entrepreneurs, and sessions were held on risk management and how to pitch a business idea to investors. Following the workshop, participants receive continued support through development and coaching programmes and are matched with mentors who provide ongoing business development support.

The project aims to help more entrepreneurs to receive professional support, but also to create positive role models, inspire young people and strengthen the longterm attractiveness of Gothenburg’s development areas. The programme culminated in a pitch night in spring 2026, where entrepreneurs presented their business ideas to a large audience made up of investors, partners and upper secondary students.
