Tech Investments and the World’s Largest Hackathon: Innovators gather in Gothenburg for Gothenburg Tech Week 2024
From 2–6 October, it’s time for this year’s Gothenburg Tech Week, of which the Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co is a proud partner. The week aims to strengthen innovation, promote lifelong learning, and enhance skills development within the tech industry. NASA will conclude the week by hosting the world’s largest hackathon.

We’re not just building technologies—we’re creating a better future by tackling global challenges, fostering connections, and inspiring the next generation of leaders. Gothenburg Tech Week is an annual event that unite key players from across the region to collaborate and strengthen the tech community. The goal is to ensure that Gothenburg remains a thriving hub for technological progress and entrepreneurship.
Hack for Space
The NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 is being held in Gothenburg and is the world’s largest hackathon. Participants from diverse backgrounds with a shared interest in space come together to tackle global challenges using NASA’s open data.
Highlights of the Year
2 October: Gothenburg Tech Week collaborates with GoWest, Gothenburg and West Sweden’s premier venture capital forum. This exclusive event is where startups meet investors, where ideas find funding, and where West Sweden’s innovation ecosystem thrives.
3 October: Plug & Play Sweden hosts the Gothenburg Sustainability Expo at the World of Volvo. This event focused on shaping a sustainable future by bringing together innovators and industry pioneers within technology. Speakers from, among others, the Volvo Group, Volvo Cars, SKF and Göteborg Energi will be present.
5–6 October: Gothenburg hosts the NASA Space Apps Challenge. A global hackathon inviting innovators, coders, designers, and creators to come together and tackle the world’s most pressing challenges, both on Earth and in space, using NASA’s open data. The event is free and open to all space enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds and will be held both digitally and at Yesbox in Gamlestaden, Gothenburg.
