Creating long term impact for individuals living with spinal cord injuries
8–11 October 2025, Gothenburg hosted the scientific meeting of the International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) and the Nordic Spinal Cord Society (NoSCoS) at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre.
Gothenburg applied for the congress International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) Annual Scientific Meeting with the purpose to use the congress to positioning Gothenburg and Sweden on the global map and most importantly: creating long‑term impact for individuals living with spinal cord injuries, especially in Gothenburg and the surrounding region.
The congress gave increased opportunities for local researchers and clinicians to participate, together with the opportunity to influence the content of the program.
A workshop in the programme focused on whether a congress can help people with spinal cord injuries return to work. The outcome of the congress gave valuable possibility to develop knowledge in Gothenburg and the region.
Inspire the experience industry stakeholders
Ahead of the congress, Göteborg & Co, in dialogue with Gothenburg Competence Centre for Spinal Cord Injury (Ryggmärgsskadecentrum Göteborg), has produced a film highlighting simple actions that can improve accessibility for people with mobility impairments.
The film was aimed at hotels, restaurants, cafés, shops, museums, and other venues across the city. Many actors in Gothenburg are already working on accessibility. But even small efforts can make a big difference for visitors who use wheelchairs.
