Gothenburg welcomes 250 international and national investors

On February 6th, 250 investors were welcomed to Gothenburg by the Chair of the City Executive Board, Jonas Attenius (S), with an official City Reception at Börsen. The reception was organized by the Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co, Business Region Göteborg and GU Ventures, as part of the GoWest Investor Day.

“In Gothenburg, innovation isn’t just a buzzword or a fancy phrase, it’s part of our DNA. We’re not just involved in research and development; we want to create an environment where ideas are allowed to flourish. That’s why we invest in incubators, accelerators, and test beds. We’re leading the transition to a climate-smart society with sustainable development. In this work, GoWest plays a crucial role by creating a meeting point for investors and entrepreneurs,” says Jonas Attenius (S), Chair of the City Executive Board.

Investor Day is a new forum for investors to meet and discuss relevant issues. It’s also a good opportunity to showcase our region and our ecosystem within the startup scene, to allow investors to become familiar with the innovation environment of the Gothenburg region. All within the aim of increasing investments in companies in western Sweden. The official welcome ceremony at Börsen with political presence shows the city’s commitment to the development of the region’s innovation environment and creates an opportunity for networking with profiles in business and politics.

“There are a lot of innovation here and a vibrant technology and startups scene. It’s my first time in Gothenburg but I heard a lot of good things about the city. There are a couple of companies that we have been tracking before and following, so we ‘re looking to catch up with them, but also meet with co-investors at GoWest”, says Miao He, Senior Investment Associate at Hadean Ventures, a life-science venture capital firm based in Norway and Sweden.

GoWest – Nordic Venture Capital Forum starts on February 7th, at Eriksbergshallen, which makes Gothenburg the obvious meeting place for investors and growth companies in western Sweden. With a large program, multiple stages, and more participants than ever before, GoWest has stepped up this year, with two days of packed programs, panel discussions, networking and much more. Extra focus this year will be on Climate Tech, and the event will welcome representatives from Bill Gates’ climate fund, Breakthrough Energy, among others. Additionally, HRH Prince Daniel will participate through his involvement in entrepreneurship, partly within the framework of Prince Daniel’s Fellowship.
