Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg and the Trade and Industry Group. The aim is to welcome international students and internationally recruited staff at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg to the city, and to show that the Gothenburg area is an attractive place for them to study, live and work. One important element involves creating contacts with the business community, and this is done by means of activities that reinforce the link between studies and working life, such as company visits, career support and career networking events.

Unimeet also organises social and cultural activities that are popular and well attended by students. Thirty or so activities are organised throughout the year. One example of this is an annual welcome reception at Börsen, which is arranged for international students who have recently moved to Gothenburg to study. Four hundred international students were welcomed over two evenings on 7 and 8 October by the Chair of the Municipal Assembly, the equivalent of the Mayor of Gothenburg in an international context.

Each year, Unimeet organises Career Day. This is the only career networking event to be aimed exclusively at the international target group at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. Around 500 international students attended and had the opportunity to network with companies in attendance. Participants also had the opportunity to attend lectures and workshops on how to profile themselves on the Swedish labour market, receive individual support from a CV coach and have a professional photo taken. There was significant interest from both companies and visitors, and the results show that Career Day is a popular platform for companies to interact with international students and researchers, and to prepare the target group for a career in the region in an inclusive way. Of those visitors who responded to the evaluation survey, 86% said that the event gave them valuable knowledge that will be useful when looking for a job in Sweden, and 100% of the companies said they had made new contacts with international talent that they would consider employing.
