Meeting ambassadors strengthening Gothenburg as a global meeting city

At this year’s meeting ambassador awards ceremony, Gothenburg expressed its gratitude to thirteen meeting ambassadors for their valuable contributions. Through their involvement in national and international congresses held throughout the year, they have contributed to making it a successful year for meetings and further strengthened Gothenburg’s position as a leading destination for meetings and knowledge exchange.

During a ceremony last week at Börsen, Mayor Aslan Akbas presented diplomas to individuals who have played a key role in enabling and organising national and international congresses in Gothenburg over the past year. This annual occasion is an opportunity for the city to recognise the people who help bring important meetings to Gothenburg. The event, arranged by Göteborg & Co, was an opportunity for the city to gather and express its thanks to this year’s ambassadors.

The diploma recipients represent a wide range of expertise in fields such as medicine, rehabilitation, electromobility, sport and the internationalisation of higher education. Their commitment, networks and expertise have been essential in making these congresses possible.

“Thanks to the commitment of our fantastic meeting ambassadors, Gothenburg has been able to host events that generate new knowledge, strengthen collaborations and drive development forward. They help highlight the city’s areas of strength and play a crucial role in attracting both talent and investment. Their efforts demonstrate the importance of meetings for research, innovation and for Gothenburg as a whole,” says Annika Hallman, Director of Gothenburg Convention Bureau.

Leadership representatives from the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology also attended the ceremony.

Through continued collaboration with its meeting ambassadors, Gothenburg is well-positioned to further develop its international meeting profile and create environments where knowledge and partnerships can flourish.
