EVS38 puts Gothenburg on the global map – a unique opportunity for the whole city to level up
From 15–18 June, the world’s leading players in electric transportation will gather at the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Gothenburg. For the first time, the Electric Vehicle Symposium & Exhibition (EVS) is being held in Sweden – a global forum for electric mobility, attracting participants from over 60 countries. Gothenburg’s role as host city highlights its central position in the global shift towards sustainable transport systems.

The electrification of the transport sector is well underway, and EVS38 demonstrates that this transition is genuinely global. In Gothenburg, the event will bring together leading companies, research institutes, and public actors driving innovation forward. Attendees include global decision-makers, top researchers, innovative businesses, and investors – all focused on the future of sustainable mobility.
“EVS38 is a unique opportunity to showcase Gothenburg’s strengths and vision,” says Anna Hylander, Project Manager at Gothenburg Convention Bureau at Göteborg & Co.
“The region offers a complete value chain within electrification – from vehicle and battery production to research, testbeds and policy development. World-leading players such as Volvo Cars, Volvo Group, Polestar, Heart Aerospace, Chalmers, and RISE are based here,” Anna continues.
EVS38 presents a comprehensive programme of seminars, technical sessions, and a major exhibition featuring the latest technology in electric vehicles, batteries, charging infrastructure, and sustainable logistics. The event also includes study visits to test facilities, research centres, and industrial hubs.

Chalmers University of Technology will showcase research demonstrations in areas such as electric aviation, drones, AI-based charging, structural batteries, and new battery recycling technologies. Attendees can also experience student-built electric vehicles and electric car sound design onsite.
Other highlights during EVS38 include:
- Press visits showcasing the expertise of the city and region.
- Emission-free freight deliveries to the venue – a tangible example of local sustainable logistics.
- Networking events at Liseberg featuring a midsummer theme, music, and traditional dancing.
- Activities for young people and future skills development – including workshops, lectures, and the “train-the-trainer” initiative, where teachers receive training in battery technology at Battery Centre Gothenburg.
“We want to inspire young people to pursue futures in technology and sustainability while also strengthening local expertise and attracting top talent,” says Anna Hylander.
She adds that the electric boat show at Lilla Bommen was another excellent opportunity to experience and test the latest electric boat technology.
Four years ago, Gothenburg won the bid to host the 38th edition of EVS. Business Region Göteborg and Göteborg & Co are the hosts, supported by 80 companies, organisations, academic institutions, and public authorities. EVS38 is a showcase for new technology and a chance to see, feel, and understand the rapid transition to an electrified society. For the city, it’s a chance to build relationships, attract investment, and strengthen Gothenburg’s international position.
