Ericsson had a Unimeet visit on the 13th of May, where 30 curious international students participated. The visit started with Victoria Halvardsson Burkholder, Employer Branding Specialist, presenting the history of Ericsson and different opportunities within the company as an international student. Jean-Marc Pfeiffer, Manager Antenna Technology & Test methods, spoke partly about internal mobility, and partly about 5G, 6G, and the future. He presented real problems and cases that Ericsson has worked with, and demonstrated how similar problems can be approached. AI/ML Development Leader Naga Vishnu Kanth Irukulapati then took over, telling the students about how he got his current role from getting his master’s degree at Chalmers. That was followed by a quiz about Ericsson and ML/AI’s usage areas, which created heaps of laughter.

Chamodi Nayandhara studies the master’s program in Environmental science at University of Gothenburg, and thinks the visit felt good and in line with her studies:
— I want to take all the opportunities that I am getting, and I thought, as I’m into data analysis, this would be a great opportunity since Ericsson is also into data and sustainability.
She argues that the visits that Unimeet arranges are valuable, especially since cultural differences- can make it feel scary applying for jobs:
— I got to meet a lot of people. In Sweden that is the main thing, networking, so yes, I like that.
Unimeet Gothenburg’s ambition in organizing company visits for international students is to, together with the companies and employers in the Gothenburg region, showcase the city as an attractive workplace and attract future international talents to stay in Gothenburg after completing their studies.
Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, and The Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co, aimed at strengthening the exchange between the universities’ international students and the business community, creating cultural and social meeting places, as well as networking opportunities.
