Mars, the Milky Way-galaxy, and even the Big Bang. 110 international students and internationally recruited personnel got to experience all this and more, thanks to the movie Vadst 3D that was shown at Wisdome at Universeum. The movie is based on real data collected by us humans, and it’s thanks to this that the visitors could travel billions of lightyears away from Earth to experience the universe all the way to Big Bang. The 3D glasses and the 360-degree projection screen teleported the international viewers to a world away from our own planet.

Wisdome is Sweden’s largest visualization dome, with 443 square kilometer spherical screen and 8K resolution. It opened the summer of 2023 and shows movies in both English and Swedish. The purpose of Wisdome is to democratize science and create an interest in subjects within STEM for children and young adults. Wisdome builts upon research within visualization from Linköping University, something that Sweden is a world leader in.

The activity is one of many organised by Unimeet Gothenburg to showcase the city and all it has to offer. The aim is to help international students, researchers, and university staff explore Gothenburg.

Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, and The Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co, aimed at strengthening the exchange between the universities’ international students and researchers and the business community, creating cultural and social meeting places, as well as networking opportunities.
