Volvo Group Digital & IT were on March 6 hosts for a Unimeet visit, where around 40 international IT students from both Chalmers and University of Gothenburg participated. The visit started off with a mingle, where the students had the opportunity to talk to Marita Hollstig, Communication Business Partner, and Mikael Aldén, HR Business Partner. They then gathered for a presentation with Oliver Lykken, Chapter Lead of Mobile XR SW, and Juliana Furuzato, Head of Vehicle SW Platform as Service. They spoke about the technology Volvo Group Digital & IT utilizes and how they landed at Volvo from the US and Brazil.
After their interesting talks it was time for Mikael to speak about what a career can look like at Volvo and different entry points to the company. Then it was time for a Q&Awith Mikael, Oliver and Juliana. The students had many questions regarding everything from specific technology and portfolios to CV advice and interview best practices.

The Q&A, which lasted over an hours and 20 minutes, was very appreciated. Pirapon Supakkeittikul, who studies the master’s in Data Science and AI at Chalmers, thought it was valuable to receive advice from people who recruit. She also thought it was good that the employees at Volvo Group didn’t make their answers complicated, but instead met every question with enthusiasm and honesty:
– I think they are very friendly. They answer every question direct.
Unimeet Gothenburg’s ambition in organizing company visits for international students is to, together with the companies and employers in the Gothenburg region, showcase the city as an attractive workplace and attract future international talents to stay in Gothenburg after completing their studies.
Unimeet Gothenburg is a collaboration between the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology, and The Trade & Industry Group at Göteborg & Co, aimed at strengthening the exchange between the universities’ international students and the business community, creating cultural and social meeting places, as well as networking opportunities.
