“It’s nice to be surrounded by other international students and it’s great to see what’s waiting for me after graduation,” says Ali Abbasov, a participant at Career Day.

Around 500 international students gathered at Chalmers Conference Centre to take part in Unimeet Gothenburg’s Career Day—a unique career event in Gothenburg tailored for international students and PhD students from Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg. The event offered attendees the chance to take their career prospects to the next level!

Over the course of 3.5 hours, participants had the opportunity to network with exhibiting companies and organisations, receive assistance with CV reviews, and take a professional photo for their CVs and LinkedIn profiles. Attendees could also join various lectures and workshops on topics such as interview techniques and understanding how their background and international experience can make them stand out in future job searches. All activities with the aim to enhance their chances of staying and working in the Gothenburg region after completing their studies.

Ali Abbasov from Azerbaijan, who is studying a master’s degree in Psychological Science at the University of Gothenburg, was recommended by former students to attend Career Day to gain a general understanding of the Swedish job market.

When Unimeet asked Ali about the highlights of Career Day so far, he shared that Switch to Sweden’s workshop, “Explore Your Career Path in Sweden,” provided him with many useful tips for the future, and that the personal CV review had been verry helpful.

Unimeet also met Andrea Mendoza from Mexico, who attended the event to explore the programme and discover the opportunities available. With previous work experience, Andrea is eager to learn more about working in Sweden.

”Sweden, and the Nordic countries in general, are known for their work-life balance, and that’s something the world should know more about. I’m genuinely interested in understanding how you manage it here”, says Andrea Mendoza, a master’s student in Industrial Design at Chalmers University of Technology.
